ORIENTATION FOR AMERICAN STUDENTS GOING ABROAD

 Your orientation is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and April 13, 2003 at Huston Camp in Gold Bar Washington

·        YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU:

1.  Culture Trek materials
      2.  A list of questions you want to ask AFS volunteers
        

·        ARRIVAL TIME

Arrival time for both parents and students is 12:00 PM.   No lunch will be served.  AFS will provide drinks and snacks during the afternoon presentations.  ( You are welcome to bring a sack lunch with you.) 

·        SATURDAY SCHEDULE

Check In          12:00 – 12:45 PM  
Welcome          1:00 PM
Session # 1     1:15 – 3:00 PM is for both parents and students
Break               3:15 - 3:30 PM  
Session # 2     3:30 – 5:15 PM is for both parents and students  
Pot Luck Dinner - 5:30  PM  Parents are invited to stay for dinner  
Parents Depart    7:00 PM

Students are to remain overnight for additional orientation.  Parents can pick up their students at 11:30 AM on Sunday April 13. 

Each Family is to bring something for the pot luck dinner:  
Dinner is an international potluck.  Do some research before you come and bring something that is typical from your country of choice.

            If your last name starts with A – E bring a dessert
            If your last name starts with F – L bring fruit or salad
            If your last name starts M – Z bring a main course  

Bring enough for 10 – 15 people. 

Students will need:  

  Sleeping bag and pillow
 
Towel & toiletries
 
CD’s and other things for free time
  
Warm jacket and shoes for walking outdoors
